Low Gap Park
Low Gap Park has a storied history and has undergone many renovations and reuses. This 80-acre (32-ha) parcel of land began as a lumber mill and mill workers’ quarters.
The remains of these old buildings still exist today. After some time, the land became a landfill, and it was in 1955 that the dumpsite was closed using topsoil.

Hudson (1857–1936), the famous Ukiah resident who lived in the adjacent Sun House Bungalow.
Grace Carpenter Hudson was an accomplished artist, and her husband was an ethnographer. The museum houses Hudson’s collection of art and other contemporary and local Native American art.

Montgomery Woods State Reserve
Step into Montgomery Woods State Reserve for the peace of its towering Coast Redwoods. An ideal stop for those who love hiking, the trees are extremely tall, similar to Sequoia National Park.
The park has a 2-mile (3.2 km) looping trail that takes approximately an hour or two to complete.
While a bit steep at the beginning of the trail, with an elevation gain of only 200 feet (61 m), children and families of all ages should be able to take this hike.
